About Theresa

Hello, I’m Theresa Johnson Herlihy, Founder and Principal Photographer of Johnson Photography, based in the Boston area. My love for photography and for Boston began early, after a high school travel seminar took me from the Midwest to the East Coast through New York, Washington DC, and ultimately Boston. It was the first time I truly picked up a camera, and that experience quietly changed the direction of my life.

I later spent a full year living and studying in Madrid, traveling throughout Europe with my camera. That time shaped my eye and deep appreciation for architecture, light, and surroundings. It’s why I’m always drawn to thoughtful composition and interesting backdrops that add depth and meaning to an image.

Today, I bring that perspective into every session. I’m known for my calm, approachable presence, my attention to detail, and my ability to connect with others and help them feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera. Whether I’m photographing corporate leaders, weddings, high school seniors, or families, my goal is always the same: to create images that feel polished, natural, and true to the people in them.

Outside of photography, family and friendships are deeply important to me. I love being outdoors, cooking for the people I care about, and bringing warmth and a sense of humor into everything I do. Those qualities often shape the experience my clients have when working with me.
